The InfraGard program is designed to address the need for a private and public-sector information sharing mechanism at both national and local levels. Its objectives are as follows:

  • provide members a forum for education and training on infrastructure vulnerabilities and protection measures;
  • provide members prompt, value-added threat advisories, alerts, and warnings;
  • ensure the protection of computer intrusion/threat data shared among InfraGard members, FBI field offices, and the NIPC through compliance with proprietary, legal, and security requirements;
  • increase the quantity and quality of infrastructure intrusion/threat reports provided to local FBI field offices (for investigation and follow-up) and the NIPC (for national-level analysis); and
  • increase interaction and information sharing among InfraGard members, their associated local FBI field offices, and the NIPC, on infrastructure threats, vulnerabilities, and interdependencies.

He will be discussing some of the challenges they face today, and how organizations like InfraGard can make a significant difference. We will be meeting at the Millennium Maxwell House hotel, from 11:30 AM  until 1:00 PM. Lunch will be $15.00 at the door. Please mark this date down on your calendars and make plans to attend.

11:30 -- 11:45   Lunch

11:45 -- 12:30   Chief Ronal Serpas --  Metro Nashville Police Chief

12:30 -- 1:00     FBI / OHS Updates

On December 10th,  InfraGard Knoxville will be having a general meeting from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Fountainhead College Auditorium.  The guest speaker will be Col. James Rushing, Commander of the Southeast Region of the Civil Air Patrol.  He will be discussing the CAP's capabilities in the area of Homeland Security missions, as well as earthquake preparedness for the western part of the State.  He will share with us some of the history of the Civil Air Patrol, which has served Homeland Security functions for the past 67 years.

I wanted to reach out to all InfraGard members across the state and pass on some important information.  One of the primary missions of InfraGard is information sharing, and information can come from many sources.  The FBI provides a secure site for InfraGard members, and the information that they send out regularly goes to the e-mail address that you used when you filled out your InfraGard application.  If you have changed e-mail addresses since you were approved for membership, you might be missing out on part of this information sharing.  It is your responsibility as a member to update your contact information with the InfraGard Secure Site, as well as your technology or membership chair within your chapter.

We are trying to make sure that we spread the word all across our great state about the InfraGard and security related events and happenings that might be of interest to our membership.  InfraGard members are welcome at any InfraGard chapter event.  Again, if you have not yet sent in your RSVP to me for any upcoming events, do so now!

See you then!

InfraGard nationally has been looking at other ways to provide our membership with communication resources. We know that many of you have issues with using the VPN for secure access to the InfraGard Secure Site.  Now we have an alternative.  InfraGard National has arranged for all of the chapters to use the CyberCop ESP Portal for secure information sharing and updates.  You can access the site here and register.  Our location ID is 384, and they will send you an approval within a couple of days.  I encourage all of our members to check it out and get online!
