The InfraGard program is designed to address the need for a private and public-sector information sharing mechanism at both national and local levels. Its objectives are as follows:

  • provide members a forum for education and training on infrastructure vulnerabilities and protection measures;
  • provide members prompt, value-added threat advisories, alerts, and warnings;
  • ensure the protection of computer intrusion/threat data shared among InfraGard members, FBI field offices, and the NIPC through compliance with proprietary, legal, and security requirements;
  • increase the quantity and quality of infrastructure intrusion/threat reports provided to local FBI field offices (for investigation and follow-up) and the NIPC (for national-level analysis); and
  • increase interaction and information sharing among InfraGard members, their associated local FBI field offices, and the NIPC, on infrastructure threats, vulnerabilities, and interdependencies.

The Middle TN Chapter of InfraGard in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation

Presents:

We would like to encourage maximum participation in our May meeting. Our guest speaker will be our very own former president and current National board member Bradley Lide, who will be presenting a summary of our Community Watch Program.

You'll hear all the details at the Chapter meeting, but here's a quick preview: For a donation of a mere $250 (a charitable receipt can be provided), key members of our chapter will provide the donating business’ employees with an hour and a half presentation/training session on terrorism awareness and threat indicators. Here's the best part: under this program, your organization can get some very valuable and relevant training, and the proceeds from the training session will go directly to our Middle-TN InfraGard Chapter! We hope for this to be a significant source of funding for our upcoming events. Lunch will be provided for this meeting at no charge. With this exciting offer, we are asking you to not only come, but please bring a guest you know who could benefit from this presentation, or possibly bring this presentation into their organization as well. In order to get an accurate head count for food, we ask that you RSVP for this particular event no later than May 16th directly to our chapter Vice President and Events Chairman Rob Marcus at robert.marcus@insighttactics.net.

We would also like to announce in advance that the June Members meeting will be a closed meeting held at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Headquarters and home of the TN Fusion Center. This means that only card-carrying members of Infragard may attend, you must RSVP, and you must present your card at the door for entry. This meeting will be a key return on your membership, as Steve Hewitt who is in charge of the TN Fusion Center will be presenting a sensitive members-only briefing, and a Fusion Center tour will be given to anyone who wishes to stay after. This tour has been requested by many of our new members, and we hope you all take advantage of this membership perk. If any of you who have received this are not members, this is a good time to get your applications in as soon as possible. Although we cannot guarantee you’ll be granted membership in time for this closed meeting, we will absolutely do our best.

YOU MUST RSVP NO LATER THAN MAY 31st FOR THE JUNE MEETING!!! Again, please RSVP directly to Rob Marcus at robert.marcus@insighttactics.net

Your 2010 Board of Directors continues to make every effort possible to make our chapter a better organization for its members. We always welcome your comments, concerns, and suggestions. If you have any input, please email our Membership Chairman Mark Burnette directly at mark.burnette@mainnerve.com.

We are coming up on a very crucial and exciting time of year for our chapter! As many of you who have been members for some time know, we host an annual 9/11 tribute event each year where we take the time to honor individuals and groups in our community who exceed the status quo in an effort to keep our nation, and it’s citizens safe. In the past, this event has been made free to our members. This event is however extremely expensive for our chapter to put on, and in order to continue hosting the event, we need your help! If you’d like to serve on any of the committees associated with this event, please either email or seek one of us out at the next meeting. We are looking forward to a spectacular event this year!

I hope to see you at an InfraGard meeting soon!

InfraGard nationally has been looking at other ways to provide our membership with communication resources. We know that many of you have issues with using the VPN for secure access to the InfraGard Secure Site.  Now we have an alternative.  InfraGard National has arranged for all of the chapters to use the CyberCop ESP Portal for secure information sharing and updates.  You can access the site here and register.  Our location ID is 384.  We encourage all of our members to check it out and get online!
